Chiropractic Treatment of Sinus Problems

How can we tell if the condition is a Sinus Problem or Snoring?

Sinus problems cause congestion and fluid in the nose, and pain and pressure around the nose and between and around the eyes. Depending on the intensity, a sinus problem could also cause headaches, fever, and a cough. Snoring is also associated with sinus problems.

Why do we get Sinus Problems/Snoring?

Sinus problems are a result of inflammation of the sinuses due to viral, bacterial, or fungal infections or allergic reactions/inflammatory reactions. This inflammation affects the surrounding bony structures.

How does Chiropractic help individuals recover from Sinus Problems/Snoring?

The skull, or cranium, consists of multiple bones. Among these, the sphenoid bone houses the sinus cavities. When there’s pressure in the sinuses or cranium, it subtly shifts the sphenoid bone, restricting the body’s ability to clear inflammation and limiting its motion. Crucially, the sphenoid bone plays a pivotal role in pumping cerebrospinal fluid, which surrounds the brain and spinal cord. Restricted motion of the sphenoid bone directly impairs this pumping action, leading to increased pressure in the cranium and sinuses.

Misaligned joints in the spine and skull compress associated nerves, disrupting normal brain-body communication. This nerve compression induces stress and weakens the immune system, increasing susceptibility to sinus inflammation from infections or allergies. A chiropractor evaluates spinal joints and skull/cranium motion to determine if specific chiropractic adjustments are necessary.

How do individuals recover from a Sinus Problems/Snoring?

The first step to recovery is to be evaluated and, if needed, adjusted by your Chiropractor. After this, your chiropractor will give you lifestyle modifications to nutrition and exercise to keep the immune system strong and able to recover from sinus problems quickly. Research also shows that using an essential oil called Valor can help with snoring. Many of Dr. Emily’s clients have found great relief with a combination of adjustments, use of the oils, and lifestyle changes.
